Holiday Craft Beer Tasting, With Cookies!

12/5/2016

It's that time of year again to celebrate the holidays. There's no better way than with craft beer and homemade Christmas cookies. Our bar manager, Heather, is sharing her grandmother's homemade secret cookie recipe with us and in return we are sharing them with our guest.

So for $5 you can sample our ten holiday themed craft beers, have Christmas cookies and receive a raffle ticket that could win you Spurs tickets, bar swag and more.

Honestly, Santa might skip his milk and cookies just to visit us instead.

This month's craft beer and cookie tasting will be on December 15th from 7-9 p.m. Feel free to bring your holly jolly spirit and even wear your ugly Christmas sweater if you feel so inspired.

Saint Arnold Brewery will have two of their Texas craft beers for sample: Sailing Santa and White Noise. Sailing Santa has a flavor profile of nutmeg followed with brown sugar to give it a sweeter taste. White Noise is a golden yellow that is sweet with a floral crisp. The crisp taste will go well with our Peppermint Chocolate Chip cookie!

Big Sky Brewing Co. is showcasing their Powder Hound Winter Ale. Their ale has elements of gingerbread and caramel, which will pair well with our Snickerdoodle cookie!

Abita Brewing Co.'s Christmas Ale will bring all the feels of Christmas with the taste of a holiday spice and a hazel color pour. This brew will go well with our Butterscotch cookie, nom nom nom.

New Belgium Brewing will also have two of their craft beers for sample: Accumulation and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ale. I don't know about you but CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE DOUGH, oooh that sounds so good, with some Sugar cookies. Damn. I already gained two pounds.

Magic Hat Brewery will make way through your palette with their Snow Roller. The Snow Roller has flavors of biscuit and caramel and go well with our Oatmeal Raisin cookie.

Sierra Nevada Brewery
will get you ready for the New Year with their Celebration craft. This craft has a earthy taste with pine being the focal point.

Karbach Brewing Co. is very punny with their Yule Shoot Your Eye Out craft. This craft is full of holiday spices but the emphasis is on ginger and cinnamon.

Goose Island Beer Co. is our roasted chocolate nuts sitting by the warm fire with their Winter Ale. Definitely inspires some great campfire caroling.

This holidy season is the perfect time to have some drinks and enjoy friends and family. So join our email list to see more of our upcoming festivities!

National Bartender Appreciation Day!

12/1/2016

Let's first start off by saying this:
Picture
December 8th is Bartender's Appreciation Day! A day where we celebrate and thank the men and women on the other side of the bar who give up their late nights so you can have yours. You're welcome.

Back in the day there was a little thing called the "prohibition" where it was actually illegal to drink anything alcoholic (the audacity!) But a hero in 1933 lifted that prohibition on December 5th giving all future generations the wonderful gift of liquid courage. In honor of this mysterious super hero, Sailor Jerry has decided to dedicate the first Monday of December to appreciate bartenders everywhere! This year it just so happens to fall on the historical December 5th.

Why Monday? Because even though your work week might be coming to end when the clock hit's 5 that Friday afternoon, us bartenders need to suit up and get ready for the beginning of our work week. So, yes. Monday is our Friday.

How can you show love to your bartender tonight? Here is a list of commandments you should always follow.
10 Patron Commandments
1. Always say please and thank you!
2. Stop talking, and listen to your bartender's stories for a change.
3. If you and your friends are ordering more than one drink, order them all at the same time.
Don't make your bartender run laps.
4. Be ready to pay!
5. Your bartender is not your mother or your cleaning lady. Clean up after yourself.
6. When closing out your tab. Please round up.
7. Buy your bartender and bar back a shot!
8. Keep your drink on the coaster. We didn't put it there for fun.
9. Last call means last call.
10. Bring your friends!

Now for those who think bartending is a super easy job...take this little quiz and see how you would do! LOL

How did you do? Comment your results below!

So go out there and thank the person who is responsible for making your nights something to remember or something you might not remember!
